Chapter 1

A man grumbled as he sifted through all his paper work of different cases. He had one case folder on the corner of his desk so he could separate it from all his clutter. He leaned back on his chair and let out a heavy sigh. He looked blankly at the clock on the wall which read 2:30 P.M.

"Dumb ass clock, always going so damn slow" mumbled the man. He moved his eyes towards a small framed picture which stood on his desk. He saw four people smiling happily in front of Carnagie Hall. He saw himself holding his son on his shoulders. He was a black man wearing a beige colored suit, quite irregular color to wear but he liked it. He saw himself in the picture as a pretty stout man.

He gave a low mumble "Need to lose some weight..."

He saw his son, Ben, on his shoulders. His son was had a look of glee strewn across his face. He wore a red jacket and short and the man wondered why his son would wear shorts on New Year's Eve. It was one of the coldest days of the year but it probably didn't matter to his son who was having fun at the time. Next to him was a very slender blond haired, green eyed woman wearing a long black dress that reached down to her ankles. Her name was Aya and she had a very pretty smile and had a sparkle of joy in her eyes. He never had any feelings for her like love, he only considered her as a daughter he never had. Then stood Maeda who was right next to Aya. He wore a very odd semiformal blue suit with black pants and his was horribly unkept. His back was slightly hunched over which showed that Maeda has a low self-esteem about himself. He thought of Maeda as a weird person, but when it came to the field of science he was a pure expert at it. He also wondered why Maeda stayed much longer than anticipated. His thoughts were instantly interrupted when he heard a knock at his office door.

"Uh, come in" exclaimed the black man.

A woman walked in through the door, wearing a white shirt which was under her black jacket and matching blue jeans. A shiny piece of metal glinted under her jacket and he knew she had kept her gun there. She walked gracefully to the front of the desk.

She smiled at him "Hello Chief Daniel Dollice"

"Geeze, Aya. Just 'cuz I'm your superior doesn't mean ya gotta be all formal on me. Just call me Daniel, alright?"

Aya chuckled under her breath "Well, I was just saying that because you earned it from our last big case"

He knew what she was talking about. THE big case which involved Melissa Pierce or was widely known as 'Mitochondria Eve.' It was Eve that threatened the city of Manhattan with her Mitochondrial powers. At the end Aya had defeated her and the 'Ultimate Being.' Mayor Domino was so pleased with their exceptional work that both of them were promoted. Aya was promoted from rookie cop to detective while Daniel became Chief. Still Daniel felt that Aya should've been the one to earn the promotion of Chief since it was she that defeated the infestation of the city.

"So what's up chie...er, Daniel" stuttered Aya as she almost caught herself calling Daniel, Chief. Daniel took a folder from the corner of his desk and gave it to Aya. She opened up the folder and slowly began to study the contents inside it.

Aya's eyes narrowed as she started to read out loud "On January 29, famous fashion dress designer, Tina Lamour, was kidnapped. Kidnapped?!? You want me to do a kidnapping case??"

Daniel coughed and cleared his throat "Well, yeah. Everyone else is on a case and you're the only one available"

"Daniel, I may have been promoted detective but I'm new to this! I don't know if I can handle a major case like this!" exclaimed Aya.

Daniel let out a heavy sight "Look, if there's any consolation, I'll try to help you out as much as possible"

Aya fumed a bit but kept her composure "Alright, I'll do it but I'm sure it won't be easy."

Daniel gave a broad smile "Thanks Aya, you're one in a million"

Aya closed the folder and while she was walking away she said "Yeah, sure" then she slammed the door behind her.

'This is it, the Ritz' thought Aya as she walked through the hotel door. She saw the lobby was extravagantly huge! Lush, soft, leather sofas adorned the lobby along with colorful plants and flowers. She scanned the area and walked towards what looked like the place to register for a hotel room. A man was standing behind a desk and was currently talking to someone on the phone.

"Yes, Uh-huh. Okay so room 213 it is then. Have a good day. Buh bye." He hung up the phone and looked at Aya for a while and gave her an odd look.

"You must be from the NYPD correct?"

Aya nodded with a confused look on her face "How'd you..."

He interrupted her in mid sentence "From your attire of course. No one that would stay in the Ritz would wear your, well, middle-class clothes"

She shot back an icy stare at the man "Look, just tell me what room Miss Lamour was in okay?"

The man turned around and walked towards a rack of cards. He looked at the cards for a moment and grabbed one of them. He handed the card to Aya which had the number 1 on it.

"Suite number 1, top floor, turn to your left and the hall" he said with no emotion showing through his voice.

"Gee, thanks" responded Aya as she began to walk away. The man just scoffed at her as Aya entered the elevator. When Aya reached the top floor she did as the man said and turned left at the end of the hall. She then bumped into someone unexpectedly.

"Oh! So sorry!" apologized Aya.

The woman, who looked like a maid just nodded and went into the elevator. Aya looked a bit puzzled as she continued walking down the adjoining hall. She reached the door that had a shiny number 1 imprinted on the plaque that hung lifelessly. She took out the key card and inserted it in the electronic lock. She found out that the door was slightly ajar and wasn't even closed in the first place. The hairs on her neck started to rise as she took her gun out. Her body tensed up as she entered the room slowly. She prowled around the suite carefully as she scanned the room. She noticed that the bathroom door was wide open and hear some beeping noise coming from it. She slowly walked into the bathroom and then quickly darted her gun in different directions. Aya was taken aback as she saw the body of the same maid she bumped into at the hall. The maid appeared to be unconscious but what was more surprising to Aya was a device with numbers that were counting down from 6. Her eye's grew wide and she knew that it was a bomb that someone planted in the room.

Authors Notes: Okies, this is it. This is my story so far on Parasite Eve: Skin Deep. Okay this story takes place a month after the game and I'm not sure if the Ritz really is in Manhattan. So send your comments (or critizisim if you prefer) to [email protected] :)
